A Less Messy Way to Dye Eggs

I saw this great idea in Family Fun Magazine. To dye Easter eggs, put the egg in a wire whisk. This will prevent the kids from dropping the egg in the dye and letting the dye splatter everywhere.

Love this idea.

Easter Sensory Table and the Easter Story

Today at preschool we discussed the true meaning of Easter.
We read the Easter story and I used this great tomb craft I saw here at Totally Tots.
I added Easter Eggs filled with animals, dinosaurs and bugs to the sensory table. The kids had fun discovering what is inside.

Stained Glass Easter Eggs

Here is an easy and colorful way to make Easter Decorations.
We used: Thick white paper, assorted colors of crepe paper or tissue paper, glue and scissors.

Glue on pieces of tissue paper to the white paper.

With a mixture of water and glue (just add enough water to make it easy to spread on over the tissue paper).
Allow to dry.
Cut out the desired shapes.

Craft Stick Bunny and Chick

I think these turned out so cute. They would make great magnets or gift toppers.

We used: 2 craft sticks glued together (I was out of Large craft sticks), white and yellow paint, wiggly eyes, scissors construction paper, feathers, glue and ribbon.

I cut out shapes to glue on the sticks. The cheeks for the bunny are not shown.

Pom-Pom Easter Bunny

I made these cute Easter Bunnies to put in Easter eggs.

Materials needed: 2 Pom-poms, 1 very small pom-pom,1 chenille stem, 2 small eyes, embroidery thread, glue and scissors.

I found the pom-poms at the Dollar Tree.

Glue the 2 pom-poms together.

Cut and glue on the whiskers, about 3 pieces of thread. Glue on small pom-pom for nose.

Glue on eyes.

Cut 2 small pieces of chenille stem for arms. Glue on to the body.

For the ears, fold over chenille stem and cut. Repeat for the second ear. Glue the ears on to the head.

Paper Plate Easter Basket

This is an Easter Basket that only takes a few materials.

My Eggs look black but up close they have a lot of color.

We used: Paper plate with a half circle cut out the one side of the middle, Easter grass and eggs.

I used scratch off eggs, but you could also use construction paper cut into egg shapes.

Glue on the eggs and Easter grass. These are done by my 2 year old class.

Easter Songs and Finger Play

I found this great Easter Songs and Finger Play book here on Delicious Ambiguity.
To go along with the songs I cut out and colored Easter Egg and Bunny coloring pages. I need to laminate them and glue them to craft sticks.
I am going to give each child in my class a bunny and an egg to use to sing with the songs.
I love this song:
5 little Easter eggs,
Lovely colors wore;
Mother ate the blue one,
then there were four.
4 little Easter eggs,
two and two, you see;
Daddy ate the red one ,
now there are three.
3 little Easter eggs,
Before I knew,
Sister ate the yellow one,
Then there were two.
2 little Easter eggs,
Oh, what fun !
Brother ate the purple one,
Then there was one.
1 little Easter eggs,
See me run!!!!
I ate the last one,
And then there was none.
This is just one of the cute songs you can find in this printable book.

Crab Crafts

Here is a cute crab hand print craft one of the teachers at my school did for her classes' Art By Me project.

Her class is called The Creative Crabs, so this is a perfect project for her class.

Her class also has a pet hermit crab they takes turns caring for on the weekends.

Here is another cute crab project my kids and I did a while back. The crabs are made from pasta shells.

Go here for the directions.

Sparkling Rainbow

Here is a fun way to make a rainbow in a different way. Even though the picture does not show it, it sparkles and has texture.

We used: water color paints, salt and paper.

Paint a rainbow with the water colors and while the paint is still wet sprinkle on the salt. And shake off the excess, just like glitter.
It is really important that the paint is wet or the salt will not stick. You may need to paint the red, then add the salt, then paint the orange and sprinkle on the salt and so on.

You can see Cheyanne really sprinkled on the salt.
